The game of poker has several different variations. In the first hand, the first bettor bets. Each subsequent hand is called a “turn” and the turn to bet passes to the next player. If there are fewer than five players, a separate game is organized. For more than ten players, two separate games can be played. All variations of Poker are discussed in more detail later in this chapter. But for now, let’s look at a few basics.
The most popular game is texas hold’em, which requires two to nine players to play. Each player is given two or five kartu, and whoever combines the best combination of kartu becomes the winner. For example, a straight flush or royal flush is a tertinggi hand in poker, and a jack or ten is a high-low combination. As long as no one is ahead of the other players in the hand, the player with the best hand wins.
Another great online poker network is IDNPoker. Founded in Cambodia in 2010, IDNPoker has since climbed to the second place on the PokerScout ranking. Because of the focus on Asian markets, IDNPoker is not heavily promoted in the international market. While the poker rooms on IDNPoker are fully translated into English, most of the promotions are in their Asian markets. They also actively participate in charity events and gaming conferences in their respective countries.
The IDN Poker client does not require downloading anything. The client is fully translated in English. The lobby has a clean design and makes it easy to select cash games and stakes. Waiting lists and filters are absent, but there are a few options to hide full tables and choose a different table. IDNPoker only allows one table per account. If you wish to play on multiple accounts, you will need to use a different browser or an account.
The limits for poker chips vary. Players may place one, two, five, or 10 chips into the pot. However, the limit is different for every stage of the game. For example, a player may be limited to two chips before the draw, five chips during the first four betting intervals, and ten after the draw. The final betting interval, however, is often set at ten chips. If you have a pair, you may raise to that extent, and vice versa.
To make sure you have the right currency for your account, consider your location. Some sites may be in the United States but accept players from all over the world. If you live outside the U.S., choose a poker site that accepts your currency. These sites will usually convert funds for you at a lower rate than banks. If you don’t like using U.S. dollars, you can use a bank account. Then, use a credit card or another currency to make sure you can afford the fees.
